148 CDP: 7 Things to Do When You Hate Your Job

October 26, 2017

So you hate your job.

Today’s topic inspiration comes from a conversation I overheard in a coffee shop between two people sitting at a table next to me. I don’t tend to want to eavesdrop, but this was a very tight-spaced coffee shop with tables close together, and it was impossible not to hear it…and it got me thinking…what can you do when you really hate your job and feel stuck?

Beyond the obvious.

The obvious answer is of course, to quit…but that is not always possible, is it?

There are SO many reasons why you might not be able to do that…at least not right now.

This is not an uncommon situation. It happens to all of us at one time or another. Sometimes it’s the whole job and sometimes it’s just one or two aspects of your job that you hate, but it’s a really common way to be feeling.

Not all jobs involve pizza parties

We are told we should all be in jobs that are like vacations…fabulous all the time where we gleefully leap out of bed each morning to glorious soundtrack music and zip in to work smiling and motivated and would not want to be anywhere else. That’s the dream job, right?

Some people are blessed with absolutely loving what they do much of the time, (and I’m thrilled to be one of them now at last), but it took me a long time to get here…and many people are not there yet.

Sometimes you have to work your way into the career you love…whether you change jobs or not.

And sometimes, you would rather be anywhere but where you are now. You are not alone.

Well what can you do when you can’t stand it anymore but don’t feel like you can make a move?

What can you do to make it less hard to get motivated to get up and go to work and to make it less painful to even be there when you have to be?

I’ve got 7 things that can help. Tune in to this episode to find out what they are.

Advance Notice!

Communication Diva is going to be rebranding in the near future. The content will all be the same…focused on helping you to get the job, love your work, and advance your career…but the name and logo and website address will be changing. I am not divulging what it will be yet, but just wanted to give you the “heads-up” that after 6 years of working with the Communication Diva brand, I have decided it’s time to update and make my brand more instantly understandable as to what I do…so that is happening! Stay tuned!

Until next time,

~ Jenn
